Los Angeles, CA
BFA Class of 2021
Where did you train?
I trained for eleven years at Carousel Dance Studio. Carousel is an amazing studio in West Hills, CA where I fell in love with dance under the guidance of Karen and Natalie Willes.
What inspires you?
When I first saw the Alvin Ailey Dance Company perform, I was mesmerized and hooked. For the first time I felt as though I were watching kindred spirits on stage, embodying everything I hoped to stand for. Alvin Ailey is an icon because of his innovation of vision in the world of dance: he created opportunity and sanctuary when there was none for nontraditional colors and backgrounds, all due to belief in himself and the value of self-expression through movement wth purpose. It is my goal to proactively create an inclusive and accepting community through the utilization of dance as a form of influential activism.
Describe yourself in three words.
Driven. Loyal. Sassy.
Tell us a fun fact about you.
My hair can stand completely vertical without a ponytail holder!
What does it mean to be a part of USC Kaufman?
The Kaufman School of Dance offers everything from a multidisciplinary core curriculum to thorough, in-depth immersion into a personalized concentration. Being a part of USC Kaufman is an honor and a privilege. Kaufman cannot simply be described as a school of dance, because what this school and program offers goes far beyond the exceptional dance training. This program creates a family of teachers, mentors and students. Being part of such a inclusive community of people who share the same passion and determination means the world to me. I could not be more elated to be welcomed into the Kaufman family.
