As a Jamaican-Jewish woman, Shayna Weintraub’s aspiration is to push the conventions and boundaries of the world of contemporary ballet while paving the way for future professional dancers of color. Shayna had the honor of training under New York City Ballet soloist Zippora Karz. After graduating, she was accepted to YoungArts where her choreography and performance received an Honorable Mention in the YoungArts Jazz Soloist Category. As a hybrid artist, Shayna brings her versatility and boundless curiosity to both her concert and commercial works. While studying at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, Shayna attended the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Summer Intensive where her already deep appreciation for the autonomy and form of contemporary ballet movement intensified.

While at USC, Shayna performed a rich and varied repertoire including The Second Detail and Enemy in the Figure by the legendary William Forsythe, as well as Jiří Kylián’s Forgotten Land and Symphony of Psalms. As a dance artist, Shayna recognizes the importance of honoring the choreographer’s intent at every performance by constantly challenging herself to investigate and reinvent new approaches to the movement. Shayna aspires to dance for a professional contemporary ballet company where she can enrich her technique and expand her artistic voice. Shayna is also a commercial dancer and is currently signed with Clear Talent Group. Her future professional goals include obtaining a DPT in physical therapy in order to treat and strengthen her fellow artists.
