Mark Daftari

Newbury Park, CA

BFA Class of 2019

 Where did you train?

I trained for two years at Thrive Dance Center and one year at Bobbie’s School of Performing Arts.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by the people around me and the music that I listen to every day. When I choreograph, it takes a lot of thinking to create moves that work and give a powerful outcome to both the audience and dancers.

Describe yourself in three words.

Ambitious. Willing. Blissful.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

When I was in fourth grade, I was held back because of my poor academic scores on my report card. But I do not regret anything because that day changed me into the person I am right now.

What does it mean to be a part of USC Kaufman’s inaugural class?

To be a part of USC Kaufman’s inaugural class means that we have the opportunity to create something so special in the dance world. Who knows what that new movement will be, but I can feel it coming. As I’ve witnessed so far, this group of dancers seem like they have something special to bring to the table. These next four years will be exciting and intense. Get ready!
