Jordan Johnson

Manhattan Beach, CA

BFA Class of 2019

Where did you train?

I grew up training at various studios in Los Angeles and New York. In high school, I trained mostly at Los Angeles County High School For the Arts (LACHSA), EDGE, and Mather Dance Company.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by extremely avant-garde films, overwhelming landscapes, all things obscure, bodies, colors, animals and more. The interplay of these different mediums opens up my creative thought in different ways.

Tell us a fun fact about you.

At age 18, I chose to live in Asia for about a year working with hurt panda bears and gibbon apes.

What does it mean to be a part of USC Kaufman’s inaugural class?

It means that I have the opportunity to help shape dance culture at USC. Also, there is excitement in learning and embarking and on a new adventure.
