Admission to the BFA in Dance at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance consists of two rounds. For the first round, candidates must submit the USC Kaufman Portfolio, as well as the USC Undergraduate Application. The faculty committee will review the two solos, three demonstration videos and all other parts of the portfolio. After reviewing all portfolios, the faculty committee will invite finalists to a second round. All applicants will be notified of their status by email in early February.
Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, the second round will not include a live audition. Instead, it will consist of a virtual interview and require the submission of additional materials. Those who are not selected as finalists for USC Kaufman will still be considered for admission to the University for their other designated major.
Finalists will be invited to live Zoom interview with the faculty committee on one of the below dates. Candidates will have the option to choose between two dates assigned to them.
- Saturday, February 20
- Sunday, February 21
- Saturday, February 27
- Sunday, February 28
- Saturday, March 6
- Sunday, March 7
The interview will last approximately 10-15 minutes. During the interview, the candidate will also be asked to complete an improvisational task within their space. A large space or studio is not necessary.
Two-Minute Video Solo
Finalists will also be required to submit a final two-minute video solo before their interview. This can be a longer version of one of the portfolio solos or a new solo. Candidates should consider preparing this video prior to hearing the results of the first-round process.
More detailed information about the second-round process will be provided to finalists in a series of confirmation emails.
