Austyn Rich

Marietta, GA

BFA Class of 2019

Where did you train?

Cobb County Center of Excellence in Performing Arts (CCCEPA).

What inspires you?

The heart of my inspiration comes from anything I encounter consciously, subconsciously and what I wish to encounter. I am an observant person, so I receive inspiration from everyone and anything. The fact that dance can  speak universally in various platforms strengthens my passion and love daily. As corny as it sounds, the sky is the limit with my inspiration. I wake up and think, “Wow! Yesterday was fun, but how can I continue to remain spontaneous?”

Describe yourself in three words.

Nostalgic, adventurous and yellow.

Tell us a fun fact about you.

Up to the age of seven, I was terribly afraid of fish.

What does it mean to be a part of USC Kaufman’s inaugural class?

Being a part of the USC Kaufman’s inaugural class means, one day I could possibly have a hallway, bench or toilet paper dispenser named after me. On a serious note, this opportunity just opens the door for a new legacy and period of art. In a few years, I can say I was a part of program that sculpted the new movement and artistry.
