Atticus Dobbie was born in Sydney, Australia and moved to New York City at the age of three. He grew up training at his mother’s dance studio, Downtown Dance Factory. He later trained at  Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School for the Arts. During his high school years, he was a member of the MOVE|NYC| Young Professionals Program, under the direction of Nigel Campbell and Chanel DaSilva. Additionally, he received training at the Miami City Ballet School and The Juilliard School. Atticus is also a YoungArts National Winner in Modern/Contemporary Dance.

His training led him to pursue his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance as a part of the class of 2024 at the University of Southern California Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. There he has had the opportunity to perform repertory by artists including Kyle Abraham, Justin Peck, Jiří Kylián, Dwight Rhoden, Micaela Taylor,  Hope Boykin, and Max Pham. 

After receiving the USC Trustee Scholarship, Atticus has furthered his research in mind-body studies. He aims to explore the expression of physicality in relationship to one’s psyche, furthering the establishment of mind-body connection as a tool for continuous research. Atticus also explores the implementation of multimedia technologies in his choreographic work, aiming to transform the performance environment and manipulate the dancing body. Through his choreography, Atticus aims to wholly embody his varied training, from Ballet to House, while also creating a playground where humor can shine.
