Brenan Joseph Gonzalez, a first-generation Cuban-American artist from Lake Worth, FL, began his dance training at That’s Dancing Dance Studio, igniting a passion and curiosity for Hip-Hop styles at age 4. He graduated from Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts in 2021 and is currently a fourth-year BFA student and Trustee Scholar at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. Brenan is a two-time YoungArts awardee, receiving an Honorable Mention in 2020 and a Merit Award in 2021 for Modern/Contemporary dance.

Through his expansive movement vocabulary in a multitude of dance genres, the notion of hybridity is a significant aspect of his movement study and research, employing various cultural modes and tapping into personal lived experiences. Brenan has performed works by renowned choreographers such as Kyle Abraham, Hope Boykin, Peter Chu, Bret Easterling, Roderick George, Jiří Kylián, and Micaela Taylor.

Recently, Brenan has explored site-specific choreography and interdisciplinary performance, merging movement with other mediums like film and fashion. His work has been featured in the Southern California Choreographic Collective and various USC Kaufman showcases. Brenan also pursues his passion for teaching through community outreach programs like USC Kaufman Connections and at various dance studios and pre-professional programs across South Florida.
