Making it as a prima ballerina is no easy feat. Tiler Peck knows better than most.

On Thursday, October 23, the New York City Ballet Principal Dancer and producer made a special appearance at the USC School of Cinematic Arts for an advance screening of “Suspending Time,” a new documentary film that chronicles six years of Peck’s life as one of the most influential figures in the field. Along the way, there have been successes and setbacks, including, as the film reveals, a severe injury that once threatened to alter her career.

The screening — a co-presentation between the SCA and the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance — took place at the Norris Center for Film and Television. It was followed by a panel discussion where Peck and her producing partners spoke at length about making the film and the process of gaining behind-the-scenes access to rehearsals, performances, and intimate personal moments that captured the essence of Peck’s life in the spotlight.

Peck has spent the entirety of her career at New York City Ballet. A California native, she was promoted to principal dancer in 2009. She has since achieved wide acclaim as a creative force, both as a choreographer and producer, and accumulated a devoted following on platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

Among the many guests were Kaufman students, USC Kaufman Dean Julia M. Ritter, Assistant Dean of Programming and Special Projects Jackie Kopcsak, and several members of the USC Kaufman Board of Councilors.
