Carolina Centenera is a Japanese, Hispanic, Filipino, Norwegian artist whose passion for movement began in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She began dancing at a small local studio, where she began to hone her craft of Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz. She later attended UNCSA High School, studying ballet, followed by Master Ballet Academy as a member of the Phoenix Ballet company, where she began developing her individuality as a mover and discovered a deep passion for exploring dance beyond traditional boundaries.
Carolina is currently earning her BFA at the USC Kaufman School of Dance with a minor in Fashion. She is a USC Dean’s Scholar and Artistic Excellence Scholarship recipient. While attending USC, she has plunged into many dance styles such as: Gaga, Locking, Whacking, House, Commercial Jazz, and Dance Hall, encouraging her curiosity as a mover and intercultural thinker.
Her training includes works with renowned artists such as Kyle Abraham, Jilian Meyers, Tyce Diorio, Juliano Nunes, and performed works by Justin Peck, Sharon Eyal, and Christopher Wheeldon. Alongside dance, she has a deep passion for design which informs her multidisciplinary vision, using fashion and movement as mediums for innovation and voice.
As Carolina continues her journey, she aspires to continue to push boundaries within design and dance, while pursuing a career in concert dance. She approaches opportunities with openness, viewing movement as both self-exploration and a way to build community.
