Dayan Robinson (he/him)
Baton Rouge, LA
BFA Class of 2028
Where did you train?
I trained at Machita Dance Company in Port Allen, LA.
What inspires you?
My older brother Denarius inspires me. From the beginning, I was always attached to his hip. Watching him aspire and work endlessly inspired me to do the same. He taught me the importance of balancing ambition and love for my craft, and I will always be grateful for that.
Describe yourself in three words.
Humble. Authentic. Goofy.
Tell us a fun fact about you.
I still have my stuffed animal that was given to me at three years old. I named him Chico after the dog from the movie Friday 2 and he’s missing one ear and all his stuffing.
What does it mean to be part of USC Kaufman?
Being part of USC Kaufman is more than the acolyte of being apart of a progressive program. Getting accepted into Kaufman taught me years of consistent work and adaptability will lead me to my dreams. It also means having the ability to shift and amplify my dance narrative. Being able to be in a space where I can explore deeper within my artistry alongside unique and influential individuals is something I’ve dreamt of for a long time and I’m glad to say that it’s happening at Kaufman.
