Jonah Tran (he/him)

Mustang, OK

BFA Class of 2025

Where did you train?

From ages six to sixteen, I trained at Studio 5678 in Yukon, Oklahoma. From there, I joined a contemporary company called Meraki Movement Company under the direction of Hilary McAlister. The focus was on contemporary movement and storytelling. In my senior year of high school, I was searching for more training in varied styles of dance so I began to train under Skye Massay Cook at Kim Massay Dance Productions in Edmond, Oklahoma.

What inspires you?

My sister inspired me to begin dancing and continues to inspire me to this day. Along with her, my family, friends, peers, music and any form of artistic expression inspires me to dig deeper into my craft and learn more about myself.

Describe yourself in three words.

Passionate, calm, altruistic.

Tell us a fun fact about you.

I hit a parked car on my first day driving to school by myself.

What does it mean to be a part of USC Kaufman?

Being a part of USC Kaufman has been my dream for years. USC Kaufman’s unparalleled training, opportunities and emphasis on collaboration will allow me to grow both as a dancer and person. I am so honored and excited to be surrounded by such inspiring artists!
