BFA Class of 2020
Mariana Carrillo started dancing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and has trained at Danza Tellez, Ballet Austin and Southland Ballet Academy. Her professional work includes dancing for companies such as Ballet RED, Barak Ballet and Festival Ballet Theatre. She has had opportunities to be featured in music videos, international fashion shows and appearances on television, such as the Ellen DeGeneres Show and the MTV Video Music Awards. Mariana is also a founding artist of Christina Lyon’s Gala de Danza Mexico and has performed annually since its inception in 2013. Through her work with Gala de Danza, Mariana developed a passion to share art and dance experiences with the generous and loving community where she grew up. For that reason, her time at USC Kaufman has allowed her to work closely with Jodie Gates to establish a partnership with Gala de Danza and provide international opportunities for students in the program. Mariana’s goal is not only to enrich students’ experiences in the program, but to help support young Mexican talent and inspire them to pursue the arts and education in a university setting.
