Originally from Raleigh, NC, Sadie Grace Shelburne has trained extensively in contemporary dance, improvisation, and choreographic composition. Her early exposure to modern dance at a competitive studio led her to an intensive at the American Dance Festival, which broadened her understanding of movement and art and shaped her path. Sadie Grace graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts high school with a concentration in contemporary dance, where she had the privilege of performing works by Robert Battle, José Limón, and Gaspard Luis.

Eager to dance and choreograph professionally, she pursued her BFA at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. She furthered her training at esteemed programs such as Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Ensemble, Anouk van Dijk’s OBOC, GagaLab, and Hubbard Street. Through such training, she has performed works by acclaimed choreographers, including Jennifer Archibald, Hope Boykin, Jiří Kylián, Crystal Pite, Micaela Taylor, and Studio Wayne McGregor.

Sadie Grace is passionate about creation and storytelling in movement. She won the Critic’s Choice Award at New Century Dance Project and received a scholarship to choreograph at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London. Moving Forward Dance selected her as an Emerging Artist choreographic fellow and performer at its festival.

Sadie Grace aspires to join a contemporary company that champions social justice and mental health advocacy. She envisions choreographing professionally, exploring the intersection of literature, music, and movement. She seeks to blend raw, instinctual movement with theatrical and narrative elements to illuminate the complexity and depth of the internal human experience.
