Before he started training at the age of ten, Samuel Ogunde began to find his artistry through praise dance and gospel, which helped him explore what dance meant to the soul. Sam grew up in Media, Pennsylvania, a part of the Philadelphia Greater area, where he began training at the Broadway Bound Dance Academy. There, he discovered and explored various genres of dance. He furthered his training at the Future Legacy of Dance.

Sam has attended several summer programs, including Dance Theatre of Harlem, Pennsylvania Ballet, Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Program, A.I.M Kyle Abraham Winter Intensive and Philadanco. When he was senior in high school, Sam was given the opportunity to dance with Danco 2, Philadanco’s second company, under the direction of Joan Myers Brown.

Sam continued his studies at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, where he has had the honor of working with William Forsythe, Jodie Gates, Silas Reiner, Hope Boykin, Penny Saunders, Bret Easterling and more. While completing his BFA in Dance, Sam is also involved with The National Pan Hellenic Council, as a part of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated. As a new member, Sam serves the college community and the surrounding communities of Los Angeles.

Sam aspires to dance professionally in a modern or contemporary dance company. As a passionate artist, he hopes to expand his artistic knowledge and explore more routes he can take within the art of movement.
