Sam Ogunde

Wallingford, PA

BFA Class of 2023

Where did you train?

I first trained at Broadway Bound Dance Academy for about 3 years and switched over to Future Legacy of Dance under the director of Brittani Dorsey for about 4 years. Lastly, I trained in the Philadelphia dance company, Philadanco. I trained in the pre-professional company under the direction of Joan Myers Brown during my last year of high school.

What inspires you?

What inspires me is the struggles that African Americans have faced back then and still today. I take this to push myself beyond, and to do better for myself in the artistic field and for the African American community in general.

Describe yourself in three words.

Dedicated, hardworking, funny.

Tell us a fun fact about you.

I realized this thing about myself a couple of years ago when my friends wouldn’t let me stop doing it, but I have a really cool African chant that is loud.

What does it mean to be a part of USC Kaufman?

To be a part of the USC Kaufman family means that I can be with other dancers and faulty that will become my family through the next four years. I will learn new techniques and strategies that I know will benefit me in my future career as a professional dancer, and I cannot wait.
