Sasha Zitofsky

Fanwood, NJ

BFA Class of 2021

Where did you train?

I started my training in musical theater; however, I shifted my focus to heavy dance training in junior high school. I continued my training in modern, ballet, and jazz in high school at the Academy of Performing Arts. I also studied ballet, contemporary, tap, Fosse, musical theatre, and hip-hop at my studio, Broadway Dance Theatre.

What inspires you?

There are a lot of things that inspire me every day!  I get creative ideas from nature, animals, human experiences, history, movies, and art. Taking those ideas and putting them into movement starts with feeling a vibrant energy in our fingertips and allowing it to pass throughout the body.  I enjoy that feeling in dance every day and am inspired by the world around me.

Describe yourself in three words.

Driven. Quirky. Adventurous.

Tell us a fun fact about you.

I cannot go to sleep without having a cup of tea.

What does it mean to be a part of USC Kaufman?

Being a part of USC Kaufman means that I have the chance to see the future of what lies ahead in the dance world. Dance is ever changing, growing and evolving through its history and new types of movement.  Kaufman will offer me the extensive training to advance my technique and become an accomplished innovator in the field.  I am so excited to be a part of something so wonderful and conquer the dance world with my peers!
