Wyatt Drew Florin, born and raised in Manhattan, New York, began his dance journey at age five, with a primary focus on tap. He attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School while also studying under the mentorship of Laurie Kanyok. In 2021, he was named a National YoungArts Foundation Finalist for Jazz Dance and a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts semi-finalist. Now a USC Presidential Scholar and member of the class of 2025, Florin is pursuing his BFA at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance.
At Kaufman, he has performed works by renowned choreographers such as Kyle Abraham, Hope Boykin, Jiří Kylián, Christopher Wheeldon, Peter Chu, Micaela Taylor, E. Moncell Durden, and Bret Easterling. His professional credits include pre-production work on Broadway’s The Cher Show, performing with Spenser Theberge and Company at The Music Center, and dancing for the Verdon Fosse Legacy at Lincoln Center. During his summers, he furthered his training by attending the Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Program, DART Dance Company, and Gaga Lab TLV.
Alongside his pursuits in the dance world, Florin works as a photographer. He explores the intricate relationship between the moving body and the still image, using improvisation as a guiding principle. USC Kaufman has given him the space to explore his choreographic interests and to create works surrounding the intersection of photography and dance. Wyatt is eager to continue his journey of strengthening his artistic talents through a career as a performer, choreographer, and photographer.
