USC Kaufman students set to perform at Korea’s Seoul Institute of the Arts
December 18, 2023
On Thursday, December 21, 7:30 PM (Korea Standard Time), BFA students from the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance will take the stage alongside their peers at Korea’s Seoul Institute of the Arts as part of the Global Creative Exchanges Program, bringing together artists from across institutions for a series of collaborations and performances.
Hip Hop Across Borders marks the informal performance debut of USC Kaufman student-artists in South Korea and derives from the dissection of Hip-Hop, K-Pop and the way genres cross cultural boundaries between young Korean and American artists.
The Global Creative Exchanges Program officially kicked off in October 2023 with the arrival of South Korean choreographer and social media star Aiki to USC, in partnership with the Korean Cultural Center of Los Angeles. The week-long residency included masterclasses and lectures on K-Pop and its place as a growing phenomenon in Western culture.
USC Kaufman’s trip to Seoul marks the second half of the exchange program. The school invites international friends and Korea-based alumni to join us for this special presentation.
