Originally from Dallas, Texas, Ausia Jones began her training at the Dallas Conservatory under the direction of Jacqueline Porter. She continued her studies at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, where she had the honor of performing works by Robert Battle, Aszure Barton, Dwight Rhoden, Jessica Lang and more. Ausia is a two-time Youth America Grand Prix Outstanding Choreographer Award winner, YoungArts winner in both choreography and modern dance and a National High School Outstanding Choreographer finalist. She has taught contemporary and improvisation for students at the Dallas Conservatory summer intensive where she discovered her desire to inspire and educate the next generation of young artists. Ausia aspires to be in a professional contemporary dance company while growing her choreographic voice as an African American woman. As she continues to cultivate her art, Ausia hopes to share her passion and love for dance with audiences around the world.
