JA, an artistic collaboration between USC Kaufman BFA students Aidan Carberry and Jordan Johnson, will perform at the Odyssey Theatre. Performances take place Friday, January 25 and Saturday, January 26 at 8:00 p.m., as well as Sunday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. Odyssey Theatre is located at 2055 South Sepulveda Boulevard in Los Angeles.

JA will share the stage with TL Collective as part of the 2019 Dance Festival, Dance at the Odyssey. Each group will present a 30-minute excerpt of their work, celebrating the hybrid of contemporary and hip-hop dance. JA’s program will feature choreography by Carberry and Johnson, performed by USC Kaufman BFA students and other dancers.

Shortly after meeting at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, Carberry and Johnson found that their choreographic styles worked in harmony, and began working as a duo that would eventually become JA. Two years later, the Capezio A.C.E. Awards at the Dance Teacher Summit named their piece “Off the Hill” first runner-up. TL Collective, the contemporary dance company splitting the bill with JA, was founded by Micaela Taylor. Dance Magazine recently named Taylor one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” in 2019.
