Breaking the divide between dancers and actors, Simon’s passion lies within blending both realms of contemporary dance and theatre, aiming to integrate social intervention through performance art. Pairing movement that is both vigorous yet visceral, Simon wishes to create a landscape of dance that utilizes site specific work as a form of protest art: mobilizing dancers to express forward-thinking ideologies such as sexual politics and queer liberation. Currently attaining his BFA in Dance at the University of Southern California’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, Simon hopes to use his hybrid dance education to pursue a career as a contemporary dance artist first, while transitioning into performance art curation down the road. His interests in acting, playwriting, and visual collaboration have led him to curate three choreographic works at USC, alongside professionally dancing and collaborating with two international choreographers at the REDCAT Theater and Los Angeles Getty Center. Simon aspires to use his passion for performance art and social change to produce site specific works that can be placed on an international scale, demonstrating the essentialness for performance art in global communities.
