Top Ten Moments: Fall semester at USC Kaufman

This semester, USC Kaufman filled the calendar with intensives, master classes, artists-in-residence, and more. From dancing with Forsythe to opening the Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center, BFA students enjoyed quite the eventful semester. Here are the top ten moments (in chronological order):
10. Hubbard Street Summer Intensive
Hubbard Street conducts the first summer intensive in the Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center.
9. Welcome Week 2016
USC Kaufman welcomes a brand new class of freshmen, the second class of students in the BFA program.
8. A chat with Sir Matthew Bourne
Sir Matthew Bourne visits for a day, watches BFA students perform repertory, and discusses acting and his career as a choreographer.
7. Fall for Forsythe begins with Focus Forsythe at USC Kaufman
Fall for Forsythe kicks off at the Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center: Focus Forsythe gives students a chance to participate in a lecture-demonstration led by William Forsythe himself.
6. Ribbon cutting ceremony at Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center
USC Kaufman faculty, staff, and students celebrate the ribbon-cutting of the Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center with the visionary founder herself, Glorya Kaufman.
5. More Fall for Forsythe events
Fall for Forsythe continues: the Choreographic Institute is launched in a three-day summit, including a discussion with Norah Zuniga Shaw and William Forsythe. BFA students participate in a LACMA showing of two site-specific William Forsythe works, Acquisition RYBG and Stellenstellen.
4. Celebrate Forsythe at the Music Center
BFA freshmen and sophomores take a master class with Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Artistic Director Peter Boal before seeing the company perform alongside San Francisco Ballet and Houston Ballet in Celebrate Forsythe at the Music Center.
3. BFA Fall Dance Performance
USC Kaufman presents the BFA Fall Dance Performance of repertory, including works by George Balanchine, Alejandro Cerrudo, Paul Taylor, William Forsythe, Dwight Rhoden and more.
2. BFA Student Works Performance
The BFA Student Works Performance showcases choreographic works by sophomore students, performed by both freshmen and sophomores, in the brand new performance studio.
1. Master class with Lil Buck and Jon Boogz
Lil Buck and Jon Boogz teach a jookin’ and animation master class while here to perform for a USC Visions and Voices event.
