Student Blog: Our own salon in Paris

By Celine Kiner

Between a trip to the Palais Garnier for an incredible program of new works (on none other than the Paris Opéra Ballet, of course) and a dazzling visit to the Louvre, my trip to Paris would have been complete. Spring Performance Inside Look: USC Kaufman dance majors take on “Living Legends”

This spring, USC Kaufman dance majors are working to fill large, legendary shoes under the guidance of the school’s expert faculty. The school’s Spring Dance Performance, set for late April, features work by three of the dance world’s “Living Legends:” Jiří Kylián, Paul Taylor and William Forsythe — choreographers with whom the USC Kaufman faculty share great connection. Through this production, the faculty–including Forsythe, himself–will pass their own knowledge on to the next generation of dancers.

The USC Kaufman audition season is a very exciting time for the current BFA dance majors. Personally, I love getting to know new people, so I jumped at the opportunity to meet potential future classmates. I was even inspired me to do things most would never volunteer for on a weekend: waking up at 6 a.m. and spending approximately 10 hours in the Kaufman International Dance Center, both Saturday and Sunday.
