In conjunction with Fall for Forsythe, a month-long celebration of internationally recognized multimedia dance artist and choreographer William Forsythe, presented by The USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, The Music Center, and LACMA, LACMA will host Site-Specific Forsythe, two site-specific experiences by William Forsythe, on October 15 and 16.

Anindo Marshall joined USC Kaufman this fall to teach Afro-Cuban. Marshall, who owns 100 or so drums from all over the world, is proud to carry on the Dunham Technique legacy. In her career as a musician, dancer and educator, she has experienced stardom in home country of Kenya, recorded music in Europe and used her art to help incarcerated youth in Los Angeles.

Faculty member Alison D’Amato has an extensive background in dance research and philosophy. She has focused her studies on analyzing dance notations and their role in choreography design and interpretation.
D’Amato joined the USC Kaufman School of Dance this fall to teach theoretical courses to dance major and non-major students.

Broadway World recently highlighted the Music Center’s Celebrate Forsythe as a part of a month-long celebration of USC Kaufman professor and choreographer William Forsythe, called Fall for Forsythe. Fall for Forsythe kicks off in the Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center on Sept. 29 and 30, with Focus Forsythe: The Choreographer’s Process.

Faculty member Tiffany Bong joined USC Kaufman this fall. She is experienced in various styles of hip-hop and has used this dance form as part of her nonprofit outreach work. Bong currently teaches non-major dance students.

This semester, Jennifer McQuiston Lott joins the USC Kaufman BFA faculty as an assistant professor of practice in ballet and contemporary dance. Founder of LottDance and cofounder of Traverse City Dance Project, she comes to Los Angeles from New York to lend USC Kaufman her extensive experience.

Jodie Gates, vice dean and director of the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, is creating work for this year’s prestigious Vail International Dance Festival. Part of a program of new work, titled “Now: Premieres,” Gates’ piece will premiere among the works of choreographers Lil Buck, Rashaun Mitchell, Silas Riener, Matthew Neenan, Jodi Melnick, Claudia Schreier and Shantala Shivalingappa.

The USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance will begin its second academic year by nearly doubling the school’s faculty, adding six new faculty members this fall.
They are Tiffany Bong, a world champion hip-hop dancer; Alison D’Amato, a choreographer and dance researcher; Jennifer McQuiston Lott, a ballet and contemporary dance artist whose works have premiered worldwide; Anindo Marshall, an acclaimed percussionist and African dance teacher; Achinta McDaniel, choreographer and artistic director of the top Bollywood dance company in Los Angeles; and Christian Vincent, a commercial dancer and choreographer whose work has been featured in television shows, movies, concerts and commercials.

USC Kaufman faculty member Saleemah E. Knight will lecture and teach two classes at this year’s west coast Dance Teacher Summit in Long Beach, presented by Dance Teacher Magazine and produced by Break the Floor Productions. Among the summit’s other faculty are New York City Ballet principals to So You Think You Can Dance choreographers.

University of Southern California’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance (USC Kaufman), The Music Center, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) present Fall for Forsythe, a month-long celebration of the work of American-born and internationally recognized choreographer William Forsythe, whose multiplatform dances transcend tradition. The public can attend a number of free and ticketed events and performances ranging from dance performances by students and professional dancers, to lectures and a costume display.
