Fall elective classes with Achinta S. McDaniel

The reality of COVID-19 has granted ample time to explore hobbies both old and new. This fall, Achinta S. McDaniel, USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance lecturer, will be teaching three dance elective courses for students looking for a creative outlet. These include Bollywood, Choreography for the Stage and Screen, and Kathak, a style new to USC Kaufman.

The Choreography for Stage and Screen Minor is one of four minor programs offered at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. This program specifically explores the different techniques used to create dances for the stage and screen, including new media.

Gallery: An Evening Celebrating Dance Creation

On Jan. 22, the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance hosted “An Evening Celebrating Dance Creation.” This event highlighted the new works being developed this semester by faculty member Patrick Corbin, Artist in Residence Hope Boykin and guest artist Andrew Winghart. The finished pieces will be premiered at USC Kaufman’s debut at The Broad Stage later this spring.

USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance welcomes Artist in Residence Hope Boykin. Boykin is a choreographer, educator and current member of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Performing professionally for over two decades, she has traveled the world and learned many lessons, which she never hesitates to use as food and fuel for her performances.
